Helping my dad add a Bluetooth adapter(StarLink TV Streamer) to his primary TV ( Samsung 65 QN850 Series 8K UHD Neo QLED). So we currently have a optical cable coming from the Samsung TV to the Onkyo receiver( Onkyo TX-NR676) currently. This TV streamer will send the audio to my dad hearing aids.
So do I need to run a cable from the TV to the Splitter and from the Bluetooth adapter, then have the output from the Splitter go to the receiver? Or will that fail to send a signal back from the receiver to the TV?
Hopefully I have provided enough details I have also purchased Bluerigger cables to plug into the splitter since I read on Amazon some people were having having problems plugging the TOS cables into the splitter.
Greetings,
If I’m reading your intended setup correctly, you would want to connect:
A Toslink cable from the output of the TV to the single input of the splitter
A Toslink cable from one of the splitter otuputs to the input of the Onkyo receiver
A Toslink cable from the other splitter output to the input of the Bluetooth-to-hearing aid adapter.
In this setup, the Bluetooth adapter will play whatever the TV itself is playing. The Onkyo will play whatever the TV is playing when it’s set to the Toslink input, but may have other inputs available. Toslink is a one-way connection, so the receiver will not be able to communicate back to the TV, but that shouldn’t generally be necessary unless you need CEC features, like the receiver being able to turn the TV off and on.
